WhatsApp adds a nice way to clean up your storage and remove unnecessary data

Version 2.20.120, platform: iOS, released on the 4th of November

Whatsapp added a decent storage management tool, rearranging the Settings menu and adding a tool to bulk remove files.

That’s how it looked before the update. To access storage manager you went through Data and Storage Usage >> Storage Usage, and saw the list of chats including old and empty ones:

Now the path looks differently: Storage and Data >> Manage Storage and also some wording changed becoming more clear. Now it says “Use less data for calls” which definitely makes more sense than “Low data usage”, so the tip in gray became unnecessary.

Speaking about the data usage in chat, now empty old chats are no longer shown in the list, only those with data (rightmost screenshot):

Once selected a chat you see all the files shared. You can bulk select all of them and delete. Or select all and unselect some. Quite an obvious intuitive logic.
